Description:

This beautiful handmade urn is a unique work of art, made with the traditional Raku firing technique. This process creates particularly intense colour shades and a characteristic crackle pattern in the glaze.

How is this urn made?
Each urn is first fired in an outdoor oven at 1100 degrees. The red-hot urn is then removed from the oven and placed in a sealed container with sawdust or other organic material.
The heat ignites the material, creating a smoke spectacle. This process affects the glaze in a unique way and creates the characteristic Raku colours. The sudden cooling creates the fine cracks in the glaze, which gives an authentic and rustic look.

Unique and authentic

Due to this artisanal technique, no two urns are exactly the same. Small variations in colour, shape and finish are part of the Raku process and make each urn exclusive. These intense colours can vary from copper, silver, gold, purple, blue green and brown.
